Egypt ministers coordinate to stabilise markets, support economic development

Egypt’s ministers of supply, agriculture, and investment held a tripartite meeting on Wednesday to enhance coordination and discuss measures to stabilise markets and support economic development.

Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk and Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid joined the talks, which focused on strengthening food security, improving supply chains, and boosting agricultural production to ensure essential goods remain available at stable prices.

The ministers discussed investment support for trade- and agriculture-related sectors, including storage, food processing, and supply chains. They highlighted the role of the Egyptian Mercantile Exchange (EMX) in promoting market transparency.

Farouk emphasised efforts to increase productivity, improve crop quality, and ensure self-sufficiency, while coordinating fair returns for farmers. Farid said the government is studying ways to expand investment opportunities and enhance the stability of supply chains.
