Egypt monitors citizens abroad amid regional unrest
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Egyptians Abroad said Monday it is closely monitoring the safety of Egyptian nationals in the region following rising tensions and conflicts.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty held discussions with Egyptian ambassadors to assess the situation of citizens stranded abroad for tourism, medical treatment, or other purposes. Embassies have been instructed to maintain 24-hour contact via hotlines, provide consular assistance, and help arrange safe repatriation.
The ministry said citizens who suffered minor injuries during recent incidents have received treatment and been discharged. It also urged Egyptians in the affected areas to stay in contact with local embassies, follow local authorities’ instructions, and exercise caution.
