Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El Wazir, met with Morocco’s Ambassador in Cairo, Mohamed Ait Ouali, to strengthen bilateral cooperation in industry and transport, the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Wednesday.
El-Wazir emphasised Egypt’s comprehensive plan to develop its industrial sector, aiming to position the country as a regional manufacturing hub. He highlighted Egypt’s openness to collaboration, particularly with Arab nations, and noted promising opportunities to boost industrial partnerships, increase trade exchanges, and expand access to African and global markets.
Discussions also covered various transport sectors, particularly maritime transport. The two sides explored coordination between Egyptian and Moroccan ports, given Morocco’s strategic position in West Africa, serving as a gateway for exports to Western Europe and the Americas, while Egyptian Red Sea ports such as Safaga and Sokhna facilitate exports to Gulf countries and South and East Asia.
El Wazir affirmed that Egyptian companies, which have implemented major infrastructure projects in Egypt and Africa, are fully prepared to undertake projects in Morocco. This includes infrastructure and sports facility developments for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host.
