Egypt, Morocco sign multiple agreements to expand trade, investment, green projects

Egypt and Morocco signed a wide-ranging set of bilateral agreements on Monday covering industry, investment, renewable energy, and other sectors, as both countries moved to deepen economic and strategic ties.

The deals were concluded during the first session of the Egyptian-Moroccan Coordination and Follow-up Committee in Cairo, attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and his Moroccan counterpart Aziz Akhannouch, as well as senior ministers from both countries.

Key agreements included:

  • Industrial Cooperation Protocol – signed by Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour.
  • Sports Cooperation Agreement – Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita.
  • Youth Cooperation Agreement – Egypt’s Gohar Nabil and Morocco’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid.
  • Cultural Cooperation MoU and executive programme – Egypt’s Minister of Culture Jehan Zaki and Morocco’s Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid.
  • Investment Cooperation MoU – between Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and Morocco’s Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE). Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid and Karim Zidane, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and the Evaluation of Public Policies, signed the agreement.
  • Desertification Combat MoU – Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk and Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari.
  • Customs Cooperation and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements – Egypt’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk and Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah.
  • Additional agreements – covering housing, electricity and renewable energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism, and diplomatic training between Egypt’s Institute for Diplomatic Studies and Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies signed by Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty and Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.
