Egypt’s Minister of Public Business Sector, Mohamed Shimi, met with Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt, Hilde Klemetsdal, to discuss enhancing cooperation and the status of joint projects in the public business and sustainable energy sectors, according to a Cabinet statement.
The meeting, attended by Executive Vice President for the Middle East and Africa at Norway’s renewable energy firm Scatec, Mohamed Amer, reviewed progress on the joint project between Egyptalum, a ministry subsidiary, and Scatec to build a 1-gigawatt solar power plant supplying clean energy to the Nag Hammadi aluminium complex.
The project, with an investment of approximately $750 million, will be implemented in two phases, each with a capacity of 500 megawatts.
The meeting also explored several promising investment opportunities with companies affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector and discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in various industrial fields.
