Egypt opens EGP475.8m water station in West Qantara Zone

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated a water station and raw water intake facility in the West Qantara Zone on Saturday, with investments exceeding 475.8 million Egyptian pounds, as part of efforts to boost infrastructure and attract industrial projects.

The first phase of the water station and intake, with a combined capacity of 35,000 cubic metres per day, has been completed, while work is underway on a second phase that will double production to 70,000 cubic metres daily. The expansion, set on 22,500 square metres, carries an estimated cost of about 905 million pounds.

During the inauguration ceremony,SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein stated that the completed utilities underpin 40 contracted industrial projects in sectors including textiles, ready-made garments, luggage, logistics, poultry equipment, packaging, and food industries.

According to Gamal El-Dein, the phased design allows for further expansions to meet the needs of future industrial projects, reinforcing Qantara West’s position on the map of regional industrial hubs.
