Egypt operates 24th train to support voluntary return of Sudanese nationals
Egypt’s National Railways Authority has operated the 24th train under a government-backed initiative facilitating the voluntary return of Sudanese nationals to their home country, the authority said on Tuesday.
The train departed Cairo’s Ramses Station on Tuesday morning for Aswan’s High Dam Station, carrying passengers returning to Sudan. The latest trip brings the total number of Sudanese citizens transported under the initiative to about 22,824, according to the statement.
The service, launched in coordination with multiple government bodies, aims to provide safe and efficient travel for Sudanese nationals returning home amid ongoing regional challenges.
The ministry said the initiative reflects Egypt’s continued support for Sudan and its people, ensuring smooth travel arrangements and humanitarian assistance during the return process.
