Egypt’s National Railways Authority has operated a second special train to facilitate the voluntary return of Sudanese nationals to their home country, as part of Egypt’s ongoing support for the Sudanese people, the Cabinet said in a statement on Monday.
The train 1940, with air-conditioned third-class carriages, departed from Cairo’s Ramses Station carrying hundreds of Sudanese citizens and their families. The journey will pass through Aswan and end at the High Dam River Port.
Sudanese Ambassador to Egypt Emad El-Din Adawi thanked Egypt for its support in promoting peace and stability in Sudan, praising President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s efforts to assist the Sudanese people.
He also thanked Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir for their efforts in providing an integrated transport system. This includes coordination of trains, buses, and river ferries between Aswan and Wadi Halfa to ensure a smooth and dignified return for Sudanese citizens.
