Egypt orders power-saving measures in new cities

Egypt’s Minister of Housing Randa El-Menshawy has ordered the immediate implementation of measures to reduce electricity consumption in new cities, the ministry said on Thursday.

The move follows government directives to cut power use in road lighting and advertising billboards along main roads and public streets in governorates and newly developed urban areas.

El-Menshawy instructed heads of new city authorities to begin implementing the plan and take steps to lower electricity use.

The measures include reducing street lighting intensity and limiting billboard lighting along major roads and public streets, the ministry said.

The minister also called for strict compliance with the plan and continuous monitoring to ensure the measures are enforced.
