The discussions highlighted the OSS’s new headquarters in Tunisia, Egypt’s participation in COP28, and the ongoing Adapting to Climate Change in Siwa Oasis project aimed at improving livelihoods and resilience for small farmers in the region.
Farouk stressed the need for strengthened cooperation with international institutions to address water scarcity and food security and for expanding regional projects to benefit member countries.
The meeting also touched on joint efforts with the Sahara and Sahel Observatory under the GMES & Africa project, including digital platforms to support sustainable agriculture and monitor environmental changes in Egypt.
