Egypt partners with Siemens to localise production of electrical components

Egypt’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA) signed on Friday a preliminary agreement with Siemens to localise the manufacturing of low and medium voltage electrical components and products.

According to Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the memorandum of understanding aims to develop and localise the production of essential electrical components such as panels and circuit breakers.

It aligns with Egypt’s broader vision to become a regional leader in industry and manufacturing in the Middle East and Africa, he added.

The collaboration with Siemens will bring advanced technology and expertise to Egypt’s industrial sector, enabling the adoption of more efficient and sustainable manufacturing practices. By localising production, Egypt can meet domestic demand, reduce reliance on imports, and create new opportunities for export.

The Egyptian government pledged its full support to ensure the project’s implementation, while Siemens emphasised its dedication to developing the industrial sector in Egypt and transferring knowledge.

This strategic alliance between Egypt and Siemens is expected to drive economic growth, create jobs, and position Egypt as a global player in the manufacturing industry.
