Egypt plans global grain logistics hub at East Port Said
Egypt is planning to establish a world-class logistics centre for grain storage and distribution at East Port Said, its ministry of supply and internal trade said on Sunday.
The project, discussed in a meeting chaired by Deputy Supply Minister Walid Abu El-Magd, is part of a broader government effort to strengthen strategic commodity infrastructure, improve supply chains, and ensure food security.
During the meeting, Abu El-Magd emphasised that the logistics hub would increase storage capacity, enhance transport and distribution efficiency, and support the government’s push to maximise the value of strategic commodities and localise related industries. Plans also include expanding the project to food processing and linking Egypt’s grain supply chains to Arab and African markets.
The ministry said the project aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to enhance logistical and commercial capacities and achieve regional and international integration in food security.
