Egypt plans new measures to boost digital economy, entrepreneurship

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with the Advisory Committee on Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship to discuss efforts to support the sector.

The committee presented several proposals, including the establishment of an independent entrepreneurship unit under the prime minister’s supervision. The unit would serve as an advisory and regulatory body, coordinating efforts between ministries and institutions while addressing challenges faced by entrepreneurs and investors.

Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat highlighted the work of the ministerial group’s technical secretariat in exploring short-term policy measures to facilitate the growth of the digital economy. She also outlined a study on launching a unified financing initiative aimed at supporting over 5,000 startups and creating 500,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
