Egypt plans to add 28 GW renewable energy in 5-7 years: PM
Egypt is rapidly expanding its renewable energy capacity, aiming to add over 4 gigawatts of new and renewable energy sources to the national grid by next year, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly told press conference on Thursday.
Looking further ahead, Madbouly said the government aims to achieve a substantial increase of 28 gigawatts in renewable energy capacity within the next 5-7 years. This ambitious plan is crucial for addressing Egypt’s energy challenges and transitioning towards a more sustainable energy future.
To realise these goals, the government is actively reviewing and approving renewable energy projects. Rigorous monitoring and oversight are in place to ensure timely implementation and effective progress.
Earlier the day, the Egyptian Cabinet approved two significant renewable energy projects for foreign investors, the prime minister stated. These projects will contribute directly to the government’s ambitious targets for expanding renewable energy capacity.
