Egypt’s Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny said Wednesday the government would ease procedures for applying the land improvement levy on plots along the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road and the North Coast. The move is part of the state’s efforts to support developers and unlock stalled projects.
El-Sherbiny told a meeting with major real estate developers that the state was committed to offering “all possible facilitations” to reduce burdens on investors, adding that a breakthrough had been reached in resolving disputes over the levy.
Developers welcomed the move, saying it reflected closer alignment with the government and would open more investment opportunities in the sector.
The minister said the measures are part of broader efforts to encourage private-sector participation in housing initiatives and address challenges facing the market.
