Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting to review ongoing preparations for the upcoming summer season, highlighting coordination between ministries and relevant entities to secure essential resources, particularly in the energy sector.
PM Madbouly stressed the importance of increasing electricity production from new and renewable energy sources through continuous monitoring of projects undertaken in collaboration with global consortiums and companies. This effort aims to enhance the stability of electricity services to meet both consumption and production demands.
During the meeting, the Minister of Electricity, Mahmoud Esmat outlined current efforts to increase the share of renewable energy in the power mix, noting that expanding renewable energy sources would help lower the import bill for petroleum products used in power generation.
He also detailed measures being taken to improve the efficiency of power plants and networks, as well as ongoing efforts to strengthen electrical interconnection with Saudi Arabia.
