Egypt prepares markets for Eid al-Fitr

Egypt’s Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade raised the highest state of readiness across all sectors to welcome Eid al-Fitr, activating central operations rooms at the ministry’s headquarters and subsidiary rooms in all supply directorates nationwide, operating 24 hours a day.

The ministry directed the Holding Company for Food Industries (HCFI) and its subsidiaries to supply large quantities of essential goods daily, including meat, poultry, oils, and sugar, through consumer cooperatives and retail outlets. Welcome Ramadan fairs will continue, offering goods at affordable prices alongside Eid cookies.

Supply directorates are monitoring mills and municipal bakeries, reviewing leave requests based on actual needs to ensure uninterrupted production of subsidised bread and distribution of rations. Flour allocation is adjusted according to consumption, and shipping schedules are revised to maintain system stability.

The ministry confirmed the continuation of subsidised supplies and additional grants throughout March, with Carry On branches and wholesale and retail outlets operating under a flexible system. Daily inspection campaigns are intensified to ensure availability, quality, and compliance with prices.

Minister Sherif Farouk stressed that strategic reserves are secure and monitoring continues around the clock to stabilise markets and ease citizens’ burdens.
