Egypt prioritises local manufacturing for water projects

Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasised the importance of the political leadership’s directives on maximising the use of locally manufactured products.

These remarks were made by El-Sherbiny during a meeting on Wednesday to review the status of water and wastewater projects in different governorates and new cities, as stated in a Cabinet announcement.

The meeting focused on implementing directives to speed up projects and ensure timely completion. El-Sherbiny emphasised the importance of monitoring projects regularly and prioritising completion as the main measure of success.

Discussions also addressed efforts to enhance the operation, maintenance, and management of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, including exploring public-private partnership as directed by the state.
