Egypt, Qatar explore joint tourism programmes

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, met with Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Saad bin Ali Al Khuraji, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in tourism, particularly to boost tourist exchange between the two countries, as per a Cabinet statement.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Fathy’s visit to Qatar to attend the 51st UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Middle East.

The two sides discussed a proposal to create integrated tourism programmes targeting tourists from East Asia, especially Japan and China. These programmes would offer combined itineraries for visiting both Cairo and Doha under a single package.

The meeting discussed plans for a visit to Egypt by a Qatari delegation led by Al Khuraji, featuring a professional tourism roadshow to explore ways to implement the joint tourism programmes, with the participation of private sector representatives from both countries as well as aviation industry stakeholders.

The meeting also covered cooperation in joint training initiatives, with a focus on benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in hospitality and hotel management.
