Egypt, Qatar stress joint coordination to ease regional tensions

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani have emphasised the importance of continued coordination between Egypt and Qatar to de-escalate tensions in the region and prevent further instability. They stressed the need for joint efforts to achieve a political settlement that ensures regional stability through the establishment of a Palestinian state as a final resolution to the conflict.

During a phone call on Wednesday, the two ministers reviewed the ongoing Egyptian-Qatari efforts to stabilise the ceasefire and implement the January 19 agreement in its three phases. This includes securing the release of hostages and detainees and ensuring the entry of humanitarian, medical, and shelter aid into Gaza. They also discussed continued coordination with the United States in mediation efforts.

Abdel Aty and his Qatari counterpart also exchanged views on creating conditions for Gaza’s reconstruction and ensuring the success of the Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction to support the Palestinian presence in their homeland.
