Egypt re-elected to chair Arab Labour Organisation board for another year

Egypt has been unanimously re-elected to chair the Board of Directors of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO) for a second consecutive year, extending its leadership role in regional labour policy until October 2026.

Labour Minister Mohamed Gobran will continue to represent Egypt and preside over the organisation’s 103rd session, following the vote held during the ALO Board meeting in Cairo on Saturday.

The meeting, hosted at the invitation of ALO Director-General Fayez Al-Mutairi, brought together representatives of Arab governments, employers, and workers to review progress on labour cooperation and employment initiatives across the region.

During the session, Sheikh Rashid bin Amer Al-Moselhi of Oman was elected to represent the employers’ group, while Nasser Al-Juraid, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s National Committee of Labour Committees, was chosen to represent the workers’ group.
