Egypt reaffirms support for Iraq’s security, stability

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security and stability. He praised the notable progress in Egyptian-Iraqi relations in recent years, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
During his meeting on Sunday with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Abdel Aty commended joint efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation. He also highlighted projects linking Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan under the trilateral cooperation mechanism.
The discussions covered preparations for the Arab League Summit in Cairo on March 4, focusing on Gaza. Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to sustain the ceasefire, plans for reconstruction, and the need for a lasting political solution to the Palestinian issue.
The ministers also discussed developments in Syria. Abdel Aty reiterated Egypt’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He stressed the need for an inclusive political process to restore stability, combat terrorism, and ensure Syria contributes to regional stability.
