Egypt recorded 148 new coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Saturday, bringing the total infection tally to 100,856 since the outbreak mid-February, according to a health ministry statement.

The ministry also reported 20 new deaths on the same day, bringing the total fatalities from the virus to 5,627.

788 patients were discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 83,261, the statement added.
