Egypt registers 157 new coronavirus cases, 16 deaths on Friday
Egypt recorded 157 new coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Friday, bringing the total infection tally to 99,582 since the outbreak hit the country in mid-February, according to a health ministry statement.
The ministry registered 16 new deaths, bringing the total deaths from the coronavirus to 5,495.
The ministry said 890 patients were discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 76,305.
Egyptian officials have repeatedly urged caution to avoid a second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the advent of autumn and the beginning of the new school year.
