Egypt releases goods worth $32bln in 5 months – minister
The Egyptian Customs Authority released imported goods and merchandise with a value of $32 billion during the last five months, announced the Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait on Tuesday.
The minister also highlighted the customs authority’s goal to transform ports into transit gates rather than places for storage.
He also talked about the importance of protecting markets from poor goods that do not match international specifications through the ACI pre-registration system.
The Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, Shahat Ghaturi, said that the authority raised the levels of readiness in customs outlets and ports, doubling the working hours to increase the release of goods.
Last April, Ghaturi announced that the country released goods worth $15 billion in the January–March 2023 period.
