Egypt reports additional 272 new coronavirus cases, toll nears 6,500

Egypt reported on Sunday 272 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 6,456, according to a health ministry statement.
The country also announced 14 new deaths, taking the tally of virus fatalities to 429, the statement read. Yet, 40 more patients recovered, for a total of 1,562 recoveries.
The rate of coronavirus cases in Egypt has seen a jump on Friday, when it reported its highest single-day toll of 358 new infections.
On April, the country hit the 1,000-case mark and surpassed the 6,000-case mark on 2 May.
