Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk held a meeting on Monday with Karim Sami Saad, Chairman of Samcrete Group, to review the progress of the strategic warehouse project in Suez Governorate.

Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk on Monday reviewed progress on the construction of a strategic warehouse in Suez Governorate, part of a nationwide programme to expand modern storage facilities for essential commodities.

The minister met with Karim Sami Saad, chairman of Samcrete Group, which is carrying out the project, to assess construction and equipment works. He stressed the warehouse is key to Egypt’s plan to expand storage capacity, cut waste and safeguard strategic reserves of food staples.

He urged contractors to adhere to deadlines and ensure the provision of utilities and services to guarantee efficiency and sustainability.

The Suez facility is one of several warehouses under development across the country, aimed at reinforcing food security, improving stock management and ensuring steady flows of basic goods to stabilise markets, the ministry said in a statement.
