Egypt and Rwanda signed a mutual visa waiver for holders of official passports on Saturday, Egypt’s foreign ministry said, in a move aimed at boosting bilateral ties.
The agreement was signed in New York by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty and his Rwandan counterpart Olivier Nduhungirehe on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The signing follows last week’s summit in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, where both leaders pledged to deepen cooperation in economic, trade and development fields.
Abdel-Atty said the accord reflects growing momentum in relations and reaffirmed Cairo’s commitment to closer coordination with Kigali in support of mutual interests and wider African stability.
