Egypt-Rwanda trade grows 3.7% in H1 – CAPMAS

Trade between Egypt and Rwanda climbed to $25.3 million in the first half of 2025, up from $24.4 million a year earlier, Egypt’s official statistics agency CAPMAS said on Tuesday. The data were released as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi hosted Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Cairo.

Egyptian exports accounted for nearly all of the total, reaching $25.0 million compared with $24.2 million in the same period of 2024, while imports from Rwanda edged up to $300,000 from $200,000.

Key Egyptian exports to Rwanda included food preparations ($7.2 million), animal and vegetable oils ($7.0 million) and plastics and articles thereof ($2.8 million), CAPMAS said.

Remittances from Egyptians working in Rwanda also surged to $3.4 million in the fiscal year 2023/2024, from $1 million the previous year. In contrast, remittances from Rwandans in Egypt rose modestly to $339,000 from $296,000.
