Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy held a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the mining sector.
The talks, held on the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2025, focused on promoting sustainable development and advancing shared economic interests between the two countries.
Badawy highlighted Egypt’s recent efforts to reform and modernise its mining sector, including the creation of a competitive investment climate backed by clear legislation.
He also pointed to strategic projects such as the phosphoric acid complex, which reflects Egypt’s commitment to increasing value-added production from mineral resources.
Al-Mudaifer noted the significant potential for cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, particularly due to their geographic proximity, which offers greater scope for integration and international partnerships. He identified the Red Sea region as a promising area for investment that could attract global interest and boost bilateral collaboration.
