Egypt’s Agricultural Research Centre (ARC) has signed a strategic agreement with Saudi Green Company for Agricultural Development to establish agricultural fertiliser and soil enhancer production in Nubaria, according to a Cabinet statement issued on Wednesday.
Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to attracting foreign investment, particularly from Arab and Saudi partners, to bolster food security and agricultural innovation.
ARC President Adel Abdel Azim described the agreement as a stepping stone for expanded cooperation in seed production, fertilisers, and agricultural inputs, including vegetable seeds and solar energy solutions.
Beyond production, the partnership includes specialised training programmes for Saudi professionals in agricultural and livestock sectors. These programmes will grant certifications accredited by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, enhancing knowledge exchange and regional expertise.
Adel Al-Shammari, CEO of Saudi Green Company for Agricultural Development, outlined ambitious plans to further extend cooperation into clean energy, medicinal plant cultivation, and applied agricultural research. He emphasised Egypt’s strategic position as Africa’s gateway and confirmed that, backed by Saudi Arabia’s investment authority, SADCO will commence fertiliser production in June to cater to both domestic and international markets.
