Egypt has allocated 70 billion Egyptian pounds in export subsidies to over 2,800 companies between 2019 and 2024, the Cabinet said on Monday, as part of a broader strategy to support exporters and drive private-sector-led growth.
The subsidies are aimed at enhancing the production capacity of local exporters, improving the global competitiveness of Egyptian goods, and providing critical liquidity to help firms meet their financial obligations.
The government initiative comes amid ongoing economic reforms and a push to expand Egypt’s export base, reduce reliance on imports, and attract foreign currency inflows. The export subsidy programme is a key pillar in the country’s plan to strengthen industrial output and position Egyptian products more prominently in international markets.
