Egypt sends 1,000 tons of aid to Lebanon amid displacement crisis

Egypt dispatched up to 1,000 tons of urgent relief aid to Lebanon to support nearly one million people displaced by the country’s ongoing internal crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.

The shipment, which arrived in Beirut on Tuesday, 24 March, included food baskets, blankets, shelter supplies, medicines, and medical equipment, aimed at helping Lebanese authorities meet immediate humanitarian needs and address gaps in the health sector.

The initiative, led by the Tahya Misr Fund, was coordinated with the Egyptian Red Crescent, the House of Zakat and Charity, and the ministries of Health and Social Solidarity, with civil society and non-governmental organisations also contributing.

Egypt said the aid reflects its ongoing diplomatic and humanitarian support for Lebanon and reaffirmed its opposition to repeated Israeli attacks and incursions, which it said violate international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The ministry reiterated its full support for Lebanese authorities in restoring order and called for the immediate cessation of Israeli violations, emphasising the protection of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
