Trade volume between Egypt and Sierra Leone reached $37.6 million in 2024, down from $57.9 million in 2023, Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported.
Egyptian exports to Sierra Leone totalled $36.7 million in 2024, down from $57.6 million in 2023, while imports from Sierra Leone rose to $830,000 from $282,000 the previous year.
Top Egyptian exports included:
- Cement and gypsum – $27 million
- Iron and steel – $4 million
- Plastics and articles – $1.9 million
Leading imports from Sierra Leone were:
- Fish and crustaceans – $488,000
- Tobacco – $178,000
- Base metals – $105,000
Egyptian workers’ remittances from Sierra Leone declined to $317,000 in FY 2023/24, down from $453,000 the previous year, while remittances from Sierra Leonean workers in Egypt rose to $36,000, up from $15,000 in the same period.
Egyptian investments in Sierra Leone amounted to $146,000 in FY 2023/24, compared to $775,000 in the previous year.
