Egypt signals new investor path at LSE opening

Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk rang the opening bell at the London Stock Exchange (LSE) to mark the early start of Egypt Day, signalling a new phase of trust, partnership, and certainty with global and local investors, as per an official statement.

Kouchouk said: “Markets don’t sleep… and neither do finance ministers,” emphasising the government’s commitment to maintaining direct engagement with the international business community to explore new investment opportunities in Egypt.

He highlighted that Egypt’s investment climate is improving, with the private sector beginning to take the lead in driving economic activity. He also pointed to Egypt’s strong economic performance over the past year, which included a large primary budget surplus, along with higher growth and export levels.

Addressing international investors, Kouchouk added: “Together, we begin our day with promising prospects to build more dynamic international partnerships that will further stimulate the Egyptian economy.”
