Egyptian Ministry of Electricity has signed on Sunday with one of the Canadian consultancy firms, a consulting contract worth US$ one million for the milestone Power Interconnection Project between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Eng. Ahmed Emam – the Egyptian Minister of Electricity – stated that the Canadian consulting firm is set to start reviewing and updating the request for proposal (RFP) for the power interconnection tenders within the upcoming period.
The Egyptian-Saudi power grids interconnection project is set to be divided into 5 main packages, the minister noted, saying to comprise of 2 for the power transformers to be given to Egypt and Saudi Arabia each, besides one for transport lines and another for the marine cable between the two countries.
Moreover, Minister Emam referred that the consultancy firm is also assigned to review documents on the 5 key packages in order to be offered to the contractors, receive and check up the proposals besides perform the technical and financial analysis for the tendered proposals and finally select the winning contractors.
