Egypt’s Minya Governorate on Monday signed an agreement with Assiut Cement Company (Cemex) for the management and operation of a waste recycling plant in Tuna El-Gebel, Minya Governorate, with total investments of up to EGP 90 million.
The project aims to enhance waste management by producing alternative fuel (RDF) and fine organic fertiliser, supporting sustainable development and environmental preservation efforts.
Spanning 10 acres, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and comprehensive administrative and service facilities.
The initiative is part of a broader waste management development plan in Minya, which includes establishing sanitary landfills in Western Minya, Tuna El-Gebel, and Al-Odwa at a total cost of EGP 188 million.
The total investments in the sector amount to EGP 278 million, and are aimed to improve living standards and ensure a safe and healthy environment for citizens.
