Egypt has signed Tuesday a European Union €10 million ($10.6 million) grant agreement to support women empowerment in the North African country.
Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr has signed the agreement with Christian Danielsson, Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) at the European Commission, in Cairo.
The grant will go for the National Council for Women to implement the National Programme for Family Empowerment and Abandoning female genital mutilation (FGM), Minister Nasr said.
