Egypt, Singapore discuss boosting investment cooperation across strategic sectors – GAFI

Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) held talks with Singapore’s ambassador on Tuesday to explore ways to expand bilateral investment and attract high-quality foreign capital into strategic sectors.

Mohamed El Gawsaky, GAFI’s executive director, met with Singapore’s Ambassador Dominic Goh to discuss collaboration opportunities in sectors including logistics, food security, renewable energy, urban development, and digital infrastructure.

According to a GAFI statement, El Gawsaky highlighted Singapore as one of the largest Asian investors in Egypt, with major companies focused on the food industry, as well as expertise in port management, smart infrastructure, clean energy, and digital transformation. He said Egypt aims to attract investments that support development plans, transfer knowledge and technology, and strengthen the business environment.

The meeting also reflected on recent official visits to Singapore, which helped raise interest among Singaporean companies in Egypt. Several leading logistics and shipping firms expressed interest in expanding operations in Egypt, including participation in airport management projects linked to the Cairo International Airport development.

Goh praised the evolving investment climate in Egypt and affirmed Singaporean companies’ commitment to exploring opportunities and strengthening cooperation with GAFI.

Both sides stressed the importance of continued institutional coordination to translate discussions into actionable steps, reinforcing the strategic economic partnership between Egypt and Singapore.
