Egypt, Singapore eye stronger investment ties – Cabinet

Egypt and Singapore pledged to deepen economic and investment cooperation during a meeting between Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib and Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Sunday, the Egyptian Cabinet said.

El-Khatib said ties between the two countries hold untapped strategic potential, citing Singapore as a key partner in digital transformation, port development, renewable energy and water desalination. He also highlighted investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), calling it an integrated hub connecting Asia, Africa and Europe.

Shanmugaratnam praised Egypt’s infrastructure upgrades and economic reforms, saying they position the country as a promising partner in building regional and global value chains.

Singapore is particularly keen to expand cooperation in technical education, vocational training, port management and knowledge exchange in technology and logistics, according to the statement.

Both sides agreed to translate political momentum into long-term projects, laying the groundwork for a broader strategic partnership.
