Egypt starts talks with EBRD for Abu Qir railway line loan
Egypt has started talks with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) over a new financing for the extension of Abu Qir railway line in Alexandria.
EBRD has sent the Egyptian Ministry of Transport the terms and conditions on selecting the advisor, who would conduct the feasibility studies on the project.
Egypt’s Ministry of Transport announced plans last March to upgrade the 22-km railroad between Abu Qir and the Alexandria train station.
The Abu Qir-Alexandria line will be developed into an electric train line as part of plans to upgrade the country’s transport infrastructure, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir said in earlier statement.
