Egypt steps up senior care with first Alzheimer’s facility in Arab world, Africa

Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy on Tuesday inspected preparations at Abla El-Kahlawi Hospital, set to open soon as the first facility in Egypt, the Arab world, and Africa dedicated to Alzheimer’s and elderly care.

Run by Al-Baqyat Al-Salihat Association, the six-floor hospital spans 7,876 square metres and has a capacity of 100 beds. It will provide early diagnosis, geriatric medicine, neurology, psychiatry, wound management, and clinical nutrition services, a government statement said.

Morsy said the project reflects civil society’s role as a key partner in healthcare, adding that the hospital will be “a qualitative addition” to Egypt’s medical system.

The association said the hospital has been equipped with the latest technologies and staffed with specialist doctors, aiming to improve the quality of life for elderly patients and their families.
