Egypt strengthens national HIV programme – Health Min.

Egypt’s Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting to review progress in the national HIV programme, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare and tackling public health challenges to protect citizens.

The Minister reviewed updated treatment protocols for people living with HIV, aimed at providing high-quality medical care and improving patients’ quality of life, the Ministry announced on Tuesday.

He also examined the medical referral system designed to ensure timely access to specialised services while maintaining patient confidentiality and safeguarding their rights, according to the statement.

The meeting covered medical and laboratory testing results as part of the early detection and routine monitoring plan, which helps limit the spread of the virus and ensures appropriate care.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of expanding awareness and preventive activities, including field campaigns, educational programmes, and training for medical personnel.

Discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation with non-governmental organisations and civil society organisations to support awareness efforts and provide psychosocial assistance for people living with HIV.
