Egypt supports diplomatic efforts to end Russia-Ukraine war

Egypt closely followed the Saudi-hosted talks on ending the Russia-Ukraine war. For decades, it has called for peaceful conflict resolution based on the UN Charter and international law. Egypt believes tackling conflicts at their roots is the only way to restore security and stability, as per an Egyptian MFA statement.
Committed to this approach, Egypt joined Arab, African, and “Friends of Peace” initiatives and supports all efforts to end the crisis. It stresses the need for political solutions in resolving global conflicts. This was evident in its past peace efforts, including President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s November 2022 call for a peaceful settlement, the MFA said.
Global efforts, including US moves to end wars, especially in the Middle East, could drive political solutions that consider all parties’ interests. This applies to the Palestinian issue and other regional conflicts, the statement added.
Wars have caused immense suffering. It is time to embrace tolerance, justice, and cooperation. The world must move beyond divisive policies and work towards a better future.
