Egypt targets $7b in food exports by ’25 – FEC

Egypt is aiming to increase its food exports to over $7 billion in 2025, with plans to double this figure in the coming years as part of its broader goal to reach a $100 billion export target, said Ashraf El-Sayed, Deputy Chairman of the Food Export Council (FEC), on Monday. This follows the country’s achievement of $6.1 billion in food exports last year.

El-Sayed highlighted the importance of Gulfood 2025 in elevating the international profile of Egyptian food products. This year, Egypt made a strong showing at the exhibition, with 140 companies occupying a 1,500-square-metre area.

The FEC is also developing a new strategy to boost food product exports, focusing on high-value subsectors with strong global competitiveness, such as dates, olives, and strawberries.

El-Sayed further revealed that the council is collaborating with the Egyptian government to launch a new export support programme in July. The initiative aims to provide enhanced incentives to help exporters manage rising costs and improve their competitiveness on the global stage.

Efforts are also underway to expand into emerging markets, particularly in Asia and Latin America, leveraging international expertise to fuel sectoral growth.
