Egypt targets lower emissions with expanded renewable energy plans, private sector partnerships – FinMin
Egypt is stepping up efforts to cut carbon emissions and expand renewable energy through partnerships with the private sector, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Thursday.
Speaking at a climate-focused roundtable, Kouchouk said the government is implementing measures to improve energy efficiency, boost industrial competitiveness, and expand renewable energy projects in cooperation with local and foreign companies.
He added that Egypt is advancing the peaceful use of nuclear energy through the El Dabaa project and investing in electricity transmission and distribution networks to integrate new energy sources.
“We are working collectively to provide incentives to accelerate the transition to new and renewable energy,” Kouchouk said. He added that upcoming budgets will continue to support programmes aimed at boosting production and exports, alongside measures to rationalise energy use in public entities and improve transport efficiency.
