Egypt targets safer 2026 Hajj season through expanded coordination with Saudi Arabia
Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly chaired a meeting of the Supreme Hajj Committee on Monday to review preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage season, directing full coordination with Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of Egyptian pilgrims.
The meeting, attended by senior ministers and officials from health, transport, tourism, aviation and foreign affairs, discussed proposed regulations for the 1447 AH/2026 season and measures to improve services.
Madbouly said the government’s priority was to provide the “best possible services” to pilgrims, allowing them to perform rituals “smoothly and safely,” according to a Cabinet statement.
Officials reviewed last year’s Hajj season, where Egypt secured prime locations for pilgrims’ camps in Arafat and Mina and won an international Excellence Award for its mission. Challenges faced in 2025 were also assessed, along with corrective steps.
Health officials outlined medical screenings and digital registration of patients’ data aimed at delivering better healthcare. EgyptAir confirmed its fleet is fully prepared to transport all pilgrims next year.
