Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity said on Thursday it will begin disbursing August payments under the Takaful and Karama cash support programme on Friday, August 15, covering 4.7 million low-income families.
The total value of the disbursement exceeds 4 billion Egyptian pounds, the ministry said. Beneficiaries can access funds through bank ATMs nationwide starting Friday morning and may also use the payments for electronic purchases, bill payments, and government services.
The Takaful and Karama Programme currently serves around 18 million people and operates with an annual budget of 54 billion pounds, following a permanent 25 per cent increase in benefits introduced in April.
