Egypt to establish tyre manufacturing hub in Ain Sokhna
The Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) plans to establish a new city for manufacturing car tyres and related industries in collaboration with one of the largest Chinese tyre producers. The project, reviewed during the 12th meeting of the Ministerial Group for Industrial Development on Monday, will be located in the Sokhna Industrial Zone.
The proposed city will consist of three tyre factories, a tyre manufacturing equipment plant, service and maintenance centres, a steel wire plant for tyres, and a white carbon factory. Additionally, the city will house a research and development centre focused on rubber and tyre manufacturing technology, as well as a training centre designed to equip workers with the skills needed for the growing industry.
The first phase of the project will focus on building a tyre factory, set to begin within the next year. This ambitious development aims to enhance Egypt’s capacity to produce key automotive components locally, reduce dependence on imports, and create significant job opportunities within the region. The city is expected to play a central role in the nation’s efforts to promote industrial growth and attract further investment in the automotive sector.
