Egypt to finalise new cash subsidy system next week, PM says
Egypt’s government will hold a meeting next week to finalise the rollout of a new cash subsidy system, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Wednesday.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Madbouly said the meeting of the Social Justice Committee will complete the executive procedures needed to implement the new system.
He stressed that the current subsidy programme remains stable and continues to reach its intended beneficiaries. The new system, he said, aims to improve efficiency while ensuring that support is not reduced for those who genuinely qualify.
“The transition to the new system is designed to enhance effectiveness without affecting citizens who are already entitled to support,” Madbouly added, emphassing the importance of secure implementation mechanisms.
